Suspected Los Cromos leader arrested in Guadalajara

Iván ‘N’, known as ‘El Cromo’, was arrested in Guadalajara, Mexico, on suspicion of homicide.

Authorities identify him as a leader of Los Cromos, a criminal group they say is linked to the Jalisco New Generation Cartel.

He faces two arrest warrants tied to three victims, plus a third warrant for an alleged homicide from 2020.

The investigation is part of federal efforts to address criminal groups operating in Juchitán and the Isthmus of Tehuantepec in Oaxaca.

Authorities also link the case to the September arrest of Juchitán’s then-mayor, Miguel Sánchez Altamirano, and another man, both now facing charges related to alleged extortion and threats to state security.

Officials say Los Cromos is under investigation for crimes including homicide, extortion, kidnapping and drug and weapons trafficking, as well as a possible role in the killing of a four-year-old girl.

The arrest follows a multi-agency intelligence operation, and the authorities say their investigations into criminal activity in Oaxaca are continuing.
