Drunken Goddess Reflux cancels public demo over AI copycat fears

Alliance Arts canceled the public demo of its game Drunken Goddess Reflux, which was due to run on October 19.

The developer said it could not properly manage limits on players posting or streaming footage, and feared others could use the demo to make copies before the game launches.

Drunken Goddess Reflux is a game built around drinking and Russian roulette, featuring an anime-style demon.

AI-assisted clones have raised concerns among developers, as imitations of other games have appeared quickly after their original games drew attention.

The change means fewer people can try the game publicly before release, though Alliance Arts plans to hold limited online sessions and gather feedback through its Discord group.

The game is scheduled to launch on PC on December 8.

We’re concerned that the demo’s content could be used to quickly imitate or replicate the game’s presentation and gameplay with AI or other tools, and that such works could be released before our launch.

We had planned to release the demo publicly with some restrictions on posting and streaming gameplay videos. However, we concluded that we can't properly manage those restrictions with our current team.
