One dead and two injured in three-car crash on A311 near Dijon

A three-car crash happened on the A311 near Dijon in eastern France on Thursday evening, shortly after the Dijon Sud toll plaza.

One person died and two were lightly injured, with one of the injured people taken to hospital.

One vehicle caught fire, but firefighters brought the blaze under control.

Traffic was stopped for several hours while emergency teams worked and the vehicles were cleared; a diversion was set up.

One account says the road reopened at about 12:30 a.m.

Reports differ on the direction of travel, describing it as either toward Lyon or toward Beaune.

Seventeen firefighters and several emergency vehicles attended the scene.
