Marco Antonio Villa faces arrest over R$570,358 child support debt

A São Paulo court ordered Marco Antonio Villa's arrest over unpaid child support of R$570,358.61.

Villa is a 71-year-old historian and political commentator who has worked for Jovem Pan and TV Cultura.

The debt is for support of his 45-year-old son, who has a disability; the son's mother said she has waited years for a judicial solution.

The judge issued the order on October 8, and the case is under court secrecy.

Police searched two addresses but did not find Villa, so the arrest warrant has not been carried out and authorities consider him a fugitive.

The warrant sets a 30-day jail term, which may be extended for another 30 days, and authorizes police to enter his home if needed to carry it out.

Police have yet to locate him and execute the warrant; Villa had not commented by publication.
