Police register fresh complaint against granite businessman Veeramani
Police in Chennai say another girl has complained of harassment by granite businessman R. Veeramani, who faces allegations involving minors.
The girl had previously been a witness in a case already under investigation.
Police say eight cases have now been registered concerning the sexual harassment of minors, and Veeramani has been arrested in all eight.
The investigation began after a child rights activist gave police a video in October 2025 that was alleged to show a minor being assaulted.
A court rejected an attempt to close that case and ordered further investigation, after which police recovered the original video and arrested Veeramani and other accused in August 2026.
A special investigation team is probing the allegations, and all the accused are being held at Puzhal Central Prison in Chennai.
Police are expected to file final reports in two of the cases next week.
