Trading in Brazil-listed BDRs rose 29.5% in 2026

Average daily trading in Brazil-listed BDRs rose 29.5% between January and September 2026, reaching R$853.94 million.

BDRs let Brazilian investors trade certificates linked to shares of companies listed abroad, and the figures cover those in B3’s BDRX index.

Investors have shown interest in international companies, including firms tied to artificial intelligence, and in diversifying beyond Brazil’s market.

Micron’s BDR trading grew 602.5%, adding R$94.35 million to average daily volume and accounting for 40.4% of the total increase.

Micron makes memory chips used to supply data to processors running AI workloads, so demand is linked to the expansion of AI infrastructure.

The growth in trading volume does not necessarily mean more investors entered the market, since existing investors may simply be trading more often.

The available figures point to a longer-term rise in BDR activity, though trading volumes can fluctuate.

The first factor is the search for exposure to popular investment themes such as semiconductors and artificial intelligence. The second is the strength of regional companies listed exclusively on the US stock exchange, such as Nubank, XP and Mercado Livre.

It is very healthy. Therefore, an increase in the volume of exposure to BDRs would be expected, which is what we have seen over a number of years.
