Nebraska fires offensive coordinator Dana Holgorsen after four straight losses

Nebraska fired offensive coordinator Dana Holgorsen after the Cornhuskers lost four straight games.

The decision came a day after a 24-13 loss to Illinois left Nebraska with a 5-4 record.

The Huskers averaged 13.5 points during the losing streak, after scoring at least 31 in each of their first five wins.

Coach Matt Rhule said the offense’s plan and execution were not working and that he was responsible for making changes.

Co-offensive coordinator Glenn Thomas will take over play-calling; he has also coached Nebraska’s quarterbacks since 2024.

Nebraska has three games left, starting with a road game against Rutgers next Saturday, followed by games against Ohio State and Iowa.

Rhule will keep evaluating the program and said he may make further changes as Nebraska tries to finish the season strongly.
