Turo to let renters find Teslas with verified FSD access
Starting October 28, Turo will let US renters find Teslas with FSD enabled through its car-rental marketplace.
Turo will check each car’s status directly with Tesla, and eligible listings will be searchable by that feature.
Eligible owners who rent out their cars can get a free one-month FSD trial, then pay Tesla’s usual $99 monthly subscription if they continue.
The move gives Tesla another way to introduce its driving software to people who do not own one of its cars, while Turo can promote popular Model 3 and Model Y rentals.
Tesla says it had about 1.7 million paid FSD subscriptions globally; the number matters because paid subscriptions count toward a target in CEO Elon Musk’s compensation package.
Despite its name, FSD still requires a driver to supervise and take control when needed.
Turo says renters will see cautions and can view a Tesla tutorial, but it has not said who is responsible if a renter crashes while using the system.
Turo will let US renters search for Teslas with Full Self-Driving (Supervised) enabled, verified through a direct connection to Tesla’s API.
The feature is scheduled to go live on October 28.
Eligible Turo hosts will receive a free one-month FSD trial.
Renters will be told to monitor the system and be ready to take over at any moment.
The partnership aims to give more people access to FSD and support wider adoption of Tesla’s software.
