1,500 troops to take part in Coalition of the Willing drills in Poland

At least 1,500 troops from four countries are due to train in Poland in November.

They will come from the United Kingdom, Poland, France and Germany.

The exercises are the first drills for the Coalition of the Willing, an informal group of more than 30 states formed in 2025 to support Ukraine.

The training is presented as preparation for a possible deployment in Ukraine if a ceasefire is reached.

Troops will practise moving forces and providing logistical support.

The coalition, led by the UK and France, is developing security guarantees that could include sending military contingents after the conflict ends.

Russia opposes foreign military personnel in Ukraine, and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has said such an intervention would be unacceptable to Moscow.
