Three-year-old found alone after leaving school activity in Yvelines

A three-year-old girl left a school activity unnoticed in Maurecourt, a town in France’s Yvelines department, in late September.

Children were leaving a nursery school to go to an after-school activity when she got away from the supervising staff.

Another child’s family found her alone in the street and brought her back to the activity centre.

The girl was unharmed.

A state service inspected the centre’s safety and supervision procedures after the incident.

The town said the review identified necessary improvements and that it was taking the matter seriously.

The town has tightened how children are handed over, requiring collection at an outside gate and checks of the authorised adult’s identity and signature.

Officials will continue to monitor the changes, and state services are due to make a follow-up visit.
