ING targets wealthy international clients in Spain

ING is seeking wealthy international clients in Spain as it expands its private banking business there.

The bank says Spain has its greatest growth potential in wealth management among the countries where it operates.

It has launched the service with 6,000 clients, but says its immediate priority is bringing existing customers’ assets from other banks.

ING aims to double its wealth-management business by 2029 and announced plans to acquire a 40% stake in Spanish bank Singular Bank.

The bank points to Spain’s economic growth and the transfer of wealth between generations as reasons for its optimism.

ING plans an international private-banking event in Madrid in the first half of 2027 to introduce wealthy clients from several European countries to Spain.
