US authorizes Boeing to supply parts to Belarus’s Belavia
The US Commerce Department authorized Boeing to work with Belavia, Belarus’s largest airline.
The license allows Belavia to get parts, components and software directly for the aircraft it already operates.
It also lets the airline begin talks about buying Boeing planes.
US restrictions imposed in 2022 had blocked the use of American aircraft and parts for Belavia, which was later placed under broader sanctions.
The airline had relied on parts brought through third countries and had taken components from older aircraft to keep others flying.
The permission follows a period of US-Belarus negotiations and comes after Washington eased sanctions on Belavia in 2025 in exchange for the release of political prisoners.
Belavia remains on the European Union’s sanctions list, and the US permission does not itself say that the airline can fly Boeing aircraft to Russia.
The US Commerce Department has authorized Boeing to work with Belarusian airline Belavia.
The authorization allows Belavia to receive parts, components and software directly for its existing aircraft.
It also opens the way for talks about buying aircraft directly from Boeing.
Belavia chief executive Igor Cherginets said the decision followed earlier US approvals and talks between Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko and a US delegation.
The sources say US sanctions on Belavia were eased in 2025, but the airline remains subject to European Union sanctions.
