Former gangland enforcer Paul Ferris is laid to rest in Glasgow

Paul Ferris’s funeral took place in Glasgow at Daldowie Crematorium, on the city’s outskirts.

Ferris, a former gangland enforcer and author, died earlier this month aged 62.

He worked for crime boss Arthur Thompson from the early 1980s, but their relationship ended after Thompson’s son Arthur Jr was shot dead in 1991.

Ferris was acquitted of the 1992 murder charge after a lengthy trial, then served seven years in prison for gun-running in 1998.

No one has ever been convicted of Thompson Jr’s killing, and the murders of two men linked to the case also remain unsolved.

Ferris later wrote three books, and his first book was adapted into the film The Wee Man.

The funeral brought family and friends together; those attending included boxer Alex Arthur and actor Paul Brannigan.
