Türkiye backs Laos joining CICA and Azerbaijan chairing through 2028
Türkiye welcomed Laos becoming CICA’s 29th member at the group’s seventh summit.
CICA is the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia, a forum for cooperation among Asian countries.
The summit was held in Baku, where Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan attended on behalf of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
Türkiye said the Baku Declaration reaffirmed members’ commitment to peace, prosperity and stability in Asia.
It also welcomed Azerbaijan’s chairmanship being extended through 2028, as CICA works to become a full international organization.
Türkiye thanked outgoing Secretary-General Kairat Sarybay and wished success to his successor, Sultan Hajiyev.
Türkiye said it would continue contributing actively to CICA’s work.
