US to host first Women's Club World Cup in January 2028
FIFA has chosen the United States to host the first Women's Club World Cup.
The 19-team tournament is scheduled for January 5-30, 2028, and is designed to take place every four years.
Seven clubs have already qualified: Arsenal, Barcelona, Gotham, Club América, Corinthians, Naegohyang and Wuhan Jiangda.
The remaining 12 places will go to clubs from several regions, with six spots for Europe and three each for Asia, Africa, North and Central America and the Caribbean, and South America, plus one for Oceania; some places will be decided later.
FIFA has not confirmed the host cities.
The US has recently hosted major FIFA tournaments, but the Women's Super League has warned that the mid-season timing could be potentially catastrophic for its schedule.
