Gardner to join Doohan and Stoner for Phillip Island Legends Lap

Wayne Gardner will return to Phillip Island for the Australian MotoGP weekend after missing an invitation in 2024 and criticising organisers again last year.

He will join Mick Doohan and Casey Stoner for the Legends Lap on Sunday, before the feature race.

The three riders have won eight world championships between them: Doohan has five, Stoner two and Gardner one.

Gardner won the Australian Grand Prix in 1989 and 1990, while Doohan won at home in 1998.

Stoner took six straight wins at Phillip Island from 2007 to 2012, and Kevin Schwantz will also take part in the display.

The weekend runs from October 23 to 25, and organisers describe it as the final chapter for the event at the circuit.

The Legends Lap will bring the champions together to celebrate their role in Australian motorcycle racing.
