6,500 crocheted poppies cascade down Worcestershire church
More than 200 volunteers made 6,500 crocheted poppies for a display at St Peter’s Church in Inkberrow, Worcestershire.
The red flowers cover part of the medieval church, creating the look of a waterfall falling from its bell tower.
The display was created ahead of Remembrance Day on November 11, when people in the UK remember those who died in war.
Organisers had set a target of 4,000 poppies, but volunteers made 2,500 more than planned.
People aged six to 92 joined the project, with hundreds of flowers also sent from Lanzarote after an appeal for help.
The poppies lead the eye towards a war memorial bearing the names of local people killed in the two world wars.
Thirty-four men from the village died in those wars, and the display is intended to honour their sacrifice.

What people are saying
That we smashed our target so quickly and by so much reflects how greatly so many people respect those who fought and fell for our freedom and will do whatever they can to honour them.
It is a spectacular illustration of the sacrifices which so many made in the world wars.
