Christian McCaffrey Questionable After Thigh Injury Against Falcons

San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey left their Week 7 game against the Atlanta Falcons after injuring his thigh in the first half.

The team listed him as questionable to return, and he jogged to the locker room after testing his leg on the sideline.

Before leaving, he had scored a touchdown and made three catches.

Rookie Kaelon Black scored a 30-yard touchdown while McCaffrey was being examined, and could take on more work if McCaffrey cannot return.

San Francisco was also without wide receivers Mike Evans and Deebo Samuel, increasing the importance of its running backs in the game.

McCaffrey’s absence could reduce the 49ers’ passing options, because he is a major pass-catching threat from the backfield.

The team had not announced whether he would return, so his status for the rest of the game remained uncertain.
