Austrian precision machine makes Asian debut at China import expo
Austria’s WFL sent a precision machine to Shanghai for its first showing in Asia at China’s International Import Expo.
The machine travelled by road from Linz to Hamburg, then by ship to Shanghai, arriving on October 12.
It combines turning, milling and other processes to make complex parts for aerospace, energy and shipbuilding, including from difficult-to-machine metals.
WFL has worked with Chinese manufacturers for more than 20 years, and nearly 300 of its machines are now in Chinese factories.
The company is looking for engineering partners, not only equipment orders, as Chinese manufacturers seek complete production processes tailored to their needs.
The expo gives WFL a chance to meet Chinese manufacturers and explore joint development of machining methods; the company says it hopes to keep growing in China.
An Austrian precision machine tool will make its Asian debut at the ninth China International Import Expo.
The M35-G MILLTURN turning and milling centre was shipped from Austria to Shanghai for the exhibition.
WFL says it hopes to present complete machining solutions and find partners for joint work with Chinese manufacturers.
The company says nearly 300 of its machines are already operating at high-end manufacturing plants in China.
WFL describes the expo as a platform to showcase its technology and build cooperation.

What people are saying
The expo is a valuable showcase window and cooperation platform.
Our goal is not only to sell more machines, but also to take part in collaborative research and development of efficient multi-process machining technologies.
WFL's participation this time is not just about product orders; we also hope to connect with the Chinese market and find like-minded partners.
