Heilbronn police officer charged over alleged €246,415 theft

A Heilbronn police officer has been charged over money collected during traffic stops in the Mosbach area of Baden-Württemberg, Germany.

Prosecutors say that from late October 2021 to February 2024, he took cash security payments and did not pass them on as required.

The alleged theft covers 153 cases and €246,415.

The payments were meant to be handed over to the authorities, but prosecutors say the officer used the money for personal purposes.

He also faces allegations of coercion and document forgery, and a disciplinary case has been opened.

He is no longer on duty, and Mosbach Regional Court will decide whether the case goes to trial.

The allegations have not been proven in court.
