Giants release running back Najee Harris

The New York Giants have released running back Najee Harris after five games with the team.

Harris had complained that being rotated in and out made it hard to find a rhythm.

In Sunday’s loss to the New Orleans Saints, he had four carries for two yards.

He finished with 99 yards on 31 carries for New York, averaging 3.2 yards per attempt.

Before joining the Giants, Harris had four straight 1,000-yard seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

He also tore an Achilles tendon early in the 2025 season while playing for the Los Angeles Chargers.

The Giants now have three other running backs: Cam Skattebo, Tyrone Tracy and Devin Singletary.

The team had not announced any roster moves to replace Harris.
