Vibra and Petrobras remain divided over plan to remove state oil company's brands
Vibra Energia and Petrobras remain at odds over when Vibra must submit a plan to stop using Petrobras brands.
The dispute concerns a brand-licensing agreement that remains in force until June 28, 2029.
Petrobras said in January 2024 that it did not plan to renew the agreement at that time and asked Vibra for a plan to phase out the brands.
The companies disagree on when a 180-day deadline starts: Petrobras says it began with that notice, while Vibra says the contract's deadline applies to termination or the agreement's end.
Petrobras renewed its request in July 2025, setting another 180-day deadline, but Vibra said it would follow the deadline it considers applicable.
Vibra says the disagreement has not materially changed since October 2025, and it has received no notice of court or arbitration proceedings.
The agreement remains in effect until June 2029, and the companies have not announced a resolution.
