Pelin Karahan says she ended her marriage to avoid an unhappy home for her children

Turkish actor Pelin Karahan says she chose to end her marriage to Bedri Güntay because she did not want their children to grow up in an unhappy home.

The couple ended their 12-year marriage by mutual agreement in April and have two sons.

Karahan said the decision was difficult, but she believed a good separation was better for the children than staying in an unhappy marriage.

She described adjusting to a changed household routine and taking on more financial responsibility, which can make her anxious but also give her courage.

Karahan said she remains hopeful about the future as she makes more decisions on her own.

She also said women actors still face pressure to choose between motherhood and a career.

Karahan argued that this expectation is unfair, noting that male actors who have children are not treated in the same way.
