Daishin Securities says customer data of 38,490 people was exposed

Daishin Securities says data from 38,490 customers was exposed in a breach in South Korea.

The company detected suspicious access to a server on October 17, which was used to link customers to online investment account openings.

The exposed information included names, contact details, bank names and account numbers, as well as other account identifiers.

The company says it blocked the IP addresses used in the attack and reported the incident to regulators while investigating with the Korea Financial Security Institute.

After 10 days of investigation, it said no signs of further harm or access to core systems had been found so far.

Its chief executive apologized, and the company says it will take steps to protect customers and prevent a repeat.
