Colton Herta remains one point short of F1 Super Licence requirement
Colton Herta is still one point short of an F1 Super Licence, despite taking part in first practice at the Mexican Grand Prix.
The FIA says the American driver has 39 of the 40 points required to race in Formula One full-time.
The confusion followed a claim that his 2025 IndyCar championship finish earned him enough points, but he placed seventh, not sixth.
One more first-practice session could make Herta eligible, and Cadillac says it may give him more chances this season.
Herta is Cadillac’s test driver and also competes in Formula 2 after moving from IndyCar.
A seat at Cadillac is still in question for 2027: Sergio Perez has a new long-term contract, while Valtteri Bottas’s future has not been confirmed.
Cadillac team chief Marcin Budkowski said having an American driver matters to the team, but that timing and the right driver also matter.
