Police shoot out tyre to stop fleeing car near Berlin’s Ku’damm

Police tried to stop a car for a check near Berlin’s busy Kurfürstendamm on Tuesday afternoon.

The driver sped away with a woman in the car, and the chase continued on Uhlandstraße in Charlottenburg.

Police said the car drove onto pavements, hit parked vehicles and broke through bollards, putting pedestrians in danger.

The driver also made several turns that police said appeared to target officers.

An officer shot one of the car’s tyres to stop it, and the vehicle eventually became stuck.

Nobody was injured, and police arrested both people in the car.

Police said both had outstanding prison sentences and were carrying forged documents; they did not specify the earlier offences.
