Jadeja left out of India’s New Zealand ODIs as Pujara questions his future

India left Ravindra Jadeja out of its squad for a five-match ODI series against New Zealand.

Former India batter Cheteshwar Pujara said Jadeja should have been selected and that his omission may mean his ODI career is over.

Pujara believes the team is giving Axar Patel priority as its main spin-bowling all-rounder.

Former India assistant coach Abhishek Nayar said Jadeja could still be Axar’s backup if Axar is injured.

India’s next ODI World Cup is scheduled for next year in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia.

The New Zealand series gives India a chance to test its team combinations ahead of that tournament.
