Jokowi Says Grave Visit Hurt Him at Diploma Defamation Trial
Former Indonesian president Joko Widodo testified in a Jakarta trial on Thursday in a case linked to claims that his diploma was fake.
He said he was deeply hurt after Tifauzia Tyassuma and others visited his mother’s grave and said Sudjiatmi Notomihardjo was not his biological mother.
Jokowi said Sudjiatmi was his birth mother and had raised and educated him.
He also described a group arriving at his home by bus to ask to see his original diploma, and questioned their authority to demand it.
Tyassuma, who is a defendant in the case, called part of his testimony irrelevant, but the judge told him to continue.
Tyassuma faces charges under Indonesia’s criminal and electronic information laws over the allegations.

What people are saying
And there they said that Sujiatmi Notomihardjo was not my mother. Yet she was my biological mother, who fed me from when I was little, from infancy until I grew up, and sent me to school with great difficulty.
Then the third time they came, this is what truly hurt me very deeply, Your Honour. They came to my parents’ grave, my father’s.
What authority do you have? What authority do you have?
I did not ask about that.
