49ers beat Commanders as Brock Purdy sets NFL passer rating mark

The San Francisco 49ers beat the Washington Commanders 23-17 on Monday night to stay unbeaten after six games.

Purdy threw for 264 yards and one touchdown, while Christian McCaffrey ran for two scores.

Purdy became the NFL’s highest-rated passer in history after reaching 1,500 career pass attempts, the threshold needed to qualify for the record.

His passer rating is 105.6, ahead of Lamar Jackson’s 102.7.

Washington rallied from 20 points down as quarterback Jayden Daniels threw two second-half touchdowns, but the 49ers’ defense stopped the comeback.

San Francisco’s strong start is its best since it won its first eight games in 2019, a season that ended with a Super Bowl appearance.

The 49ers have won six straight to open the season, while the Commanders are 1-4-1.
