Low water forces Expovina to move part of wine fair ashore
Zurich’s Expovina wine fair will partly move ashore because the lake is unusually low.
The fair runs from October 29 to November 12 at Bürkliplatz, where it has traditionally been held on ships.
The low water meant the Zurich Lake Navigation Company needed four planned exhibition ships for regular service.
A new pavilion near the Schanzengraben will host some exhibitors who were due to be on two of those ships.
Six ships will still be part of the event, including the MS Wädenswil, now used as a fondue ship.
About 220 exhibitors will present nearly 4,000 wines from 33 countries, with Portugal as the guest country.
Organisers say some offerings have been reduced and exhibitors moved, but the fair is going ahead.
