Happy's Place Leaves Bobbie and Isabella Without Full Answers About Their Father

Happy's Place Leaves Bobbie and Isabella Without Full Answers About Their Father

Happy's Place is exploring the past of half-sisters Bobbie and Isabella, whose late father was named Happy.

In Season 3, Episode 2, the sisters put his photo on an ofrenda for Día de los Muertos, bringing up feelings about his past.

Finding his old cologne suggested he had a lasting relationship with Isabella's mother, Maritza, rather than a brief affair.

Bobbie would prefer to think it was a fling, while Isabella would like to believe it was a love affair.

What happened matters to how the sisters see Happy and themselves, but the episode does not settle the question.

The show's co-creator says the women may never get definitive answers, and the story may return to their questions as they try to find peace with uncertainty.

I don't think life is that neat, unfortunately, and I'm more interested in watching characters grapple with how they feel about things and how they're going to deal with them without having a definitive answer to those questions — relying on their own personal interactions and what history has told them, and ultimately trying to find a way to be at peace with not absolutely knowing.
