2027 Tour de France routes feature British start and tough Pyrenean stage

Organisers have unveiled the 2027 Tour de France routes, with both the men’s and women’s races starting in Britain.

The men’s race begins in Edinburgh on 2 July, then travels through England and Wales before transferring to France.

The women’s race starts in Leeds on 30 July, with stages also planned in Manchester and London.

The men’s route covers 3,479km and includes 71km of individual time trials, the most in a Tour since 2012.

Its hardest day is expected to be stage 18 in the Pyrenees, where riders will climb the Col du Portet and Col du Tourmalet on the same stage for the first time.

The route ends in Paris, where the final stage returns to Montmartre before the traditional Champs-Elysees finish.

Tadej Pogačar will target a sixth title, while the women’s race continues through 7 August.
