Lyon beat Crystal Palace 3-2 as Nakamura sets up two goals

Lyon beat Crystal Palace 3-2 in a Europa League match in France on Thursday.

Japan international Keito Nakamura set up two Lyon goals, while fellow Japan international Daichi Kamada scored for Palace after coming on as a substitute.

Lyon took a 2-0 lead before half-time, with Corentin Tolisso and Ernest Nuamah scoring.

Yeremy Pino pulled one back for Palace, but Pavel Sulc restored Lyon’s two-goal lead in the 76th minute.

Kamada’s late goal was not enough to prevent Palace from losing.

Lyon moved to two wins from two league-phase matches, while Palace had one win and one defeat.

Palace manager Pierre Sage said his team had fallen short of his expectations in the first half, and that they need to play well for the full match.

I think we didn't play this first half. We are really far off our standards in the mental side of the play, in the tactical side of the play, because the players are too high between our lines and we really struggled a lot with that.

You cannot win this kind of game by playing only one half.

It's a very disappointing return because we lost. I can't take satisfaction from coming back home or seeing familiar faces when the result isn't there.
