ITV renews Karen Pirie for a third season

ITV has renewed Karen Pirie, a Scottish detective drama, for a third season.

Lauren Lyle will return as Detective Inspector Karen Pirie, and Gillian Roger Park will adapt Val McDermid’s novel The Skeleton Road.

The story begins in Edinburgh, where human remains are found hidden in the roof of a derelict building.

The victim had fled the 1990s conflict in the Balkans and moved to Scotland, where he married an author who is now famous.

Karen’s investigation uncovers secrets and a cycle of revenge, while someone takes justice into their own hands.

Unlike the first two seasons, which each had three feature-length episodes, the new season will have six hour-long episodes.

ITV has not announced when it will premiere.
