Ten Hag says Ajax and Feyenoord approached him after Manchester United exit

Erik ten Hag says Ajax and Feyenoord approached him about coaching jobs after Manchester United dismissed him.

He declined their interest and chose Bayer Leverkusen, where he became head coach in 2025.

His time at Leverkusen ended after a brief spell, and he says the club expected results before his squad was complete.

Ten Hag believes the club struggled to move on from the methods of his successful predecessor, Xabi Alonso, despite hiring a coach with his own approach.

He says the decision had already been made before his final match, which he felt weakened his authority.

He is now FC Twente’s technical director and says he does not currently miss coaching, though he remains selective about possible jobs.
