GMCH Trains Teachers on Epilepsy for Smart Schools in Assam
Imagine if some kids in school have epilepsy, which can cause seizures.
Doctors are teaching teachers how to help these kids.
Doctors from a hospital are giving lessons to teachers about what epilepsy is, how to handle seizures, and how to make sure these kids feel safe and understood.
This way, schools can become 'epilepsy-smart,' meaning they're ready to help any student who might need it.
The training includes teaching first aid and clearing up any wrong ideas about epilepsy.
The goal is to help kids with epilepsy and to make sure everyone in school understands and supports them.
GMCH launched training for 150 government school teachers in Kamrup district.
The program is part of the ICMR-funded 'Tele_ESSI' project, led by Dr. Marami Das.
Training focuses on epilepsy knowledge, stigma reduction, and seizure management.
Teachers will learn first-aid, address myths, and establish support systems.
The initiative aims to create 'epilepsy-smart schools' for student support.
