Cabinet Approves New Integrated Transport and Logistics Authority

Cabinet Approves New Integrated Transport and Logistics Authority

The Union Cabinet has approved a new body called ITLA to help plan transport and logistics in India.

It will bring different ministries into a shared process for reviewing and tracking major infrastructure projects.

The body will look at government projects costing ₹500 crore or more, but other existing systems will still handle financial appraisals.

ITLA will also create a long-term plan for roads, railways, ports, aviation and other ways of moving people and goods.

It plans to combine information from transport and government systems in one data repository.

The government hopes this will reduce repeated work and delays.

Officials also expect it to support better connections and logistics.

One official said getting many ministries to agree could be a major challenge.
