Government Says PMAY-U Delivered Over One Crore Urban Homes

The government says a housing program has helped many people in cities get permanent homes.

It says 1.25 crore homes were approved under PMAY-U and its newer version, PMAY-U 2.0.

More than 1 crore of these homes have reportedly been finished and given to families.

Many homes are owned by women or jointly owned with women.

The program also focuses on groups that may need extra help, including people with disabilities, senior citizens and minorities.

PMAY-U 2.0 plans to help 1 crore more urban families between 2024 and 2029.

Eligible families can receive up to Rs 2.50 lakh to build or buy a home.

The program also supports affordable rental housing.

Online tools help officials track construction, applications and payments.
