Maoist Leadership Severely Weakened Following Recent Setbacks
Imagine a group of rebels called Maoists.
The police and army have been working hard to stop them.
They've killed some of the leaders, including Basavaraju and Sudhakar.
Because of this, the group is much weaker than before.
The people in charge are fewer in numbers and their main decision-making group is also reduced.
In the beginning of 2025 many members were killed, marking one of the biggest losses of the group.
Security forces have intensified operations against the Maoists, leading to the elimination of high-profile leaders.
Nambala Keshav Rao, alias Basavaraju, a top Maoist leader, was killed last month.
Senior Maoist leader Narasimha Chalam, alias Sudhakar, was killed in an encounter with security forces.
The Maoist Politburo has shrunk to three members, down from 11-12 in the 2000s.
Indian security forces have recorded close to 300 Maoist casualties in the first 150 days of 2025.
