Delhi HC dismisses NIA probe plea
A man named Satish Kumar Aggarwal asked the Delhi High Court to investigate a big protest that happened on July 20, 2026.
The protest was about a leak in the NEET exam papers.
The protest started peacefully but turned violent, with people throwing stones, hurting police officers, and damaging property.
The man wanted a special agency called the NIA to investigate because he thought the Delhi Police couldn't handle it alone.
He also said that political leaders and other groups influenced the protest, and he wanted to know if foreign money was involved.
The court said that only the central government can decide if the NIA should investigate, and it dismissed his request.
Delhi High Court dismissed a PIL seeking an NIA probe into the July 20 protest over the NEET paper leak.
The petition was filed by Satish Kumar Aggarwal, alleging the protest was part of a broader conspiracy involving foreign-funded organizations and political elements.
The court stated that the NIA can only be involved after satisfaction of the Central government, which the court cannot substitute.
The petitioner argued that the protest turned violent with attacks on journalists, damage to property, and obstruction of public movement.
The court questioned the statutory mechanism for invoking NIA jurisdiction and emphasized the need for an FIR and central government approval.
