Assam Floods Kill At Least 100 Amid Monsoon Deluge

Assam Floods Kill At Least 100 Amid Monsoon Deluge

In India, there is a rainy season called the monsoon that happens every summer.

This year, the rain was much stronger than usual in a part of India called Assam.

The heavy rain made big rivers like the Brahmaputra grow very big and break their walls, called embankments.

When that happens, water rushes into towns and villages.

At least 100 people lost their lives because of these floods.

Many families also lost their cows and other things they need to live.

The leader of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma, said that helpers could not reach the worst-hit places for a whole week.

Experts say Assam gets floods almost every year, and that cutting down forests and mining in the ground makes the floods worse.

Many people want a big investigation to learn how to protect everyone better in the future.
