AI Adoption in MSMEs Can Unlock $500B Economic Value: Report
A new report by Boston Consulting Group and FICCI says that if India's small and medium businesses (MSMEs) start using Artificial Intelligence (AI), it could add a huge amount of money, about $500 billion, to the country's economy.
This can happen through better productivity, saving costs, and easier access to loans.
However, there are some problems like not enough digital setup, lack of knowledge, and not enough skilled people to use AI.
The report also says that India needs to focus more on creating new and innovative AI solutions rather than just using AI for small problems.
Currently, many companies are not investing enough in AI, and only a few are getting the real benefits from it.
The report suggests that by supporting AI in small businesses, startups, and different regions, India can create more jobs and help the economy grow stronger.
AI adoption in India's 64 million MSMEs could unlock over $500 billion in economic value.
Barriers to AI adoption include digital infrastructure, lack of awareness, and access to skilled talent.
India ranks in the top quartile globally for AI readiness but contributes less than 1% of global AI patents.
Only 25% of executives currently realise the real value from AI, with 44% investing less than 10% of their tech budget in AI.
The report urges a shift towards creating AI-first businesses and driving deep innovation.
