Activist demands urgent action to protect Mudasarlova Reservoir
A man named Bolisetty Satyanarayana, who is a leader in an environmental group, spoke to the media in Visakhapatnam.
He is very worried about the damage being done to the environment and the sea.
He said that a lot of waste from factories and medicines is being dumped into the sea, which is harming the ocean and the people who fish there.
He also talked about a big lake called Mudasarlova Reservoir, which is very old and important.
He said that only a small part of it is protected now, and he wants the government to do something to protect it better.
He also said that the government should not let people build things in the area around the lake.
He also mentioned that the government owes money to a library and should give it to them so they don't have to close.
He urged young people to care about these issues and to vote for leaders who will protect the environment.
Bolisetty Satyanarayana raised concerns over environmental destruction and illegal land acquisitions in North Andhra.
He highlighted the impact of industrial and pharmaceutical waste on the ocean, creating 'dead zones' and contributing to global warming.
Satyanarayana demanded immediate action to protect Mudasarlova Reservoir, including shifting the dump yard and declaring the catchment area a 'No Construction Zone'.
He alleged that the land acquisition process for the Jindal project in S Kota mandal violates Land Acquisition Acts and lacks proper consent.
Satyanarayana urged the GVMC to release Rs.100 crore in library cess dues to prevent the closure of the historic Visakhapatnam Library.
