IEM Sets Benchmark with Indigenous Private Cloud
The Institute of Engineering & Management (IEM) in Kolkata, India, has made a big achievement by becoming the only university in the country to host all its websites and applications on a private cloud that it built and manages itself.
This cloud is not just for hosting but also serves as a real-life classroom where students can learn about cloud technology.
The cloud is designed to be very reliable and secure, and it helps students understand how to manage and operate cloud systems.
IEM also teaches students about other major cloud platforms like AWS, Google Cloud, and Oracle Cloud.
This initiative is part of India's Make-in-India program, which encourages self-reliance and innovation.
IEM is the only university in India to host its entire digital ecosystem on an indigenously developed private cloud.
The private cloud powers all live websites, institutional portals, academic platforms, and internal systems.
The infrastructure is designed for performance, reliability, and serves as a live academic laboratory for cloud education.
Students gain hands-on exposure to cloud lifecycle management, including private cloud design, data centre operations, and DevOps workflows.
IEM also trains students on AWS, Google Cloud, and Oracle Cloud, providing a comprehensive understanding of both indigenous and global cloud platforms.
