Congress Divided Over Digvijaya Singh's RSS Praise
A Congress MP named Manickam Tagore said that the RSS, a political organization in India, is like Al-Qaeda because it spreads hatred.
He was responding to another Congress leader, Digvijaya Singh, who had praised the RSS for its strong organization.
Tagore believes the Congress party, which is 140 years old, should be the model for unity and bringing people together.
He also said that Digvijaya Singh's statement does not help in the Congress party's fight against the government.
Digvijaya Singh later clarified that he only praised the RSS's organizational structure, not its ideology, and that he remains opposed to the RSS and PM Modi.
The RSS leader, Indresh Kumar, said that the praise for the RSS had triggered unease within the Congress and that the organization is working towards social harmony and nation-building.
The BJP used Singh's remarks to criticize the Congress, alleging that the party is divided and autocratic.
Some Congress leaders, like Pawan Khera and Salman Khurshid, supported Tagore's views, while others, like Shashi Tharoor and TS Singh Deo, defended Singh's remarks.
The BJP also warned of a defamation suit against Tagore for his remarks.
Congress MP Manickam Tagore equated the RSS with Al-Qaeda, stating both spread hatred.
Digvijaya Singh praised the RSS's organizational strength, which Tagore criticized as a 'self-goal'.
Tagore emphasized the Congress party's 140-year history as a model for unity and a people's movement.
Singh clarified that he only praised the RSS's organizational structure, not its ideology, and remains opposed to the RSS and PM Modi.
The BJP criticized the Congress, alleging autocratic and undemocratic functioning based on Singh's remarks.
