Telangana Urges Households to Install Rooftop Solar Systems
Telangana’s power distribution company wants more families to put solar panels on their roofs.
Solar panels can help households use sunlight to make electricity and reduce their bills.
Under a national scheme, eligible homes can get up to Rs.78,000 toward a system of up to 3 kWp.
People need to apply online and use a vendor registered under the scheme.
They also need to complete checks and connect the system through the required net-metering process.
The subsidy is paid into the eligible person’s bank account after the required steps are verified.
TGSPDCL says it has made parts of the process easier.
It also reported thousands of registrations and installations across several solar programmes.
TGSPDCL is encouraging domestic consumers in Telangana to install rooftop solar to lower electricity bills and support clean energy.
Eligible households can receive up to Rs.78,000 in central subsidy for a system of up to 3 kWp under PM Surya Ghar.
Applicants must register on the scheme website, use a registered vendor, and complete approval, net-metering, inspection, and commissioning steps.
TGSPDCL says it has simplified the process, including exemptions for certain systems and an application-fee exemption for qualifying applications filed June 22, 2026, through March 31, 2027.
As of October 9, TGSPDCL reported 79,976 registrations, 62,818 installations, and 831.872 MW across the listed solar programmes.
