Ludhiana Gardener's Simple Bulb Habit Keeps Rain Lilies Blooming Yearly

Ludhiana Gardener's Simple Bulb Habit Keeps Rain Lilies Blooming Yearly

Rain lilies are special flowers that bloom after it rains.

During the hot, dry months they stay asleep underground.

When the monsoon rains arrive, they wake up and grow fresh leaves and flowers.

A gardener named Poonam, who lives in Ludhiana in India, grows them in her garden.

She shares her gardening secrets on her Instagram page called Gardenflavours.

She says the bulbs need soil that lets water drain away quickly.

She plants each bulb with the pointy end facing up and keeps the soil moist, not soaking wet.

Then the flowers come back by themselves every single year.
