European T20 Premier League Seeks Its Own Space in Cricket
Abhishek Bachchan is helping run a new cricket league called the European T20 Premier League.
Its first season will take place in the Netherlands and Ireland.
The opening games will be in Voorburg, and the tournament will later move to Malahide in Dublin.
Bachchan says the league does not need to take fans away from football or other sports.
He believes people can enjoy many sports at the same time.
The league wants to begin with a small group of loyal fans and grow gradually.
Bachchan also said good facilities and emotional support are important for making the league successful.
League co-owner Abhishek Bachchan said the European T20 Premier League is not trying to compete with football or other established sports.
The inaugural season will be played in the Netherlands and Ireland, beginning in Voorburg before moving to Malahide in Dublin.
Bachchan said Europe offers an exciting and largely untapped market for cricket beyond countries with established cricket traditions.
The league initially aims to build a small, loyal and passionate fan base rather than chase large audiences.
Bachchan praised the infrastructure and support from cricket boards in both host countries, while saying further growth is possible.
