Cabinet Approves Rs 6.5K Crore for Kisan Yojana
The government is spending a lot of money, Rs 6,520 crore, on a plan called Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojana (PMKSY) to help farmers.
Part of this money will build special places to keep food fresh longer, like big refrigerators, which will help prevent food from going bad.
Other money will be used to build labs that test food to make sure it's safe to eat.
This plan is designed to create better ways to keep food fresh and make sure food sold is safe, which will help both farmers and the people who buy their food.
The Union Cabinet approved Rs 6,520 crore for the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojana (PMKSY).
This includes Rs 1,920 crore for new and existing projects.
Rs 1,000 crore is allocated to establish 50 food irradiation units and 100 food testing labs.
The 50 irradiation units aim to add 20-30 LMT of preservation capacity.
