Congress Seeks Probe Into Madhya Pradesh Liquor Tenders

Jitu Patwari, a Congress leader in Madhya Pradesh, wants the government to investigate liquor contracts.

He says a small number of business groups may control much of the state’s liquor market.

Patwari claims four groups control nearly 70 per cent of the market.

He says some companies have repeatedly won contracts in several districts.

He wants officials to examine tenders awarded from 2012-13 through 2026-27.

He also questioned whether online bidding has made the process fairer.

Patwari asked the government to publish information about bids and winning companies.

He wants officials to compare the state’s actual liquor revenue with what more competitive bidding might have produced.

The articles do not report a response from the Madhya Pradesh government.
